Writing these days is a LOT of work, lovelies. If you’re looking to be published traditionally there are submissions to prepare, synopses, query letters, partials and fulls. If you’re an Indie writer you’ve got to spend time coordinating editors, cover artists and formatters. And no matter how you publish, you’ve got market, market, market. It can become a strain, and worst of all, it can cut into the time you should be spending WRITING! Oh yeah, the thing that started all the madness, the thing that brings you joy and boosts your spirit – writing stories.
One thing that some writers are doing to cope with all these demands, is to engage a Street Team. What is a Street Team you ask? Well, it’s a group of “fans,” or supporters who commit to helping you get the word out about your work. And what does “getting the word out” entail? The answer to that can vary from author to author, but using social media regularly is sort of a necessity if you’re going to be on Street team.
The time has come in my career when I’m thinking that I just can’t do it all alone anymore. I’ve followed all the best advice, utilized all the information and resources available to me, and worked my proverbial ass off to produce the highest quality product and market it as aggressively as I’m able. I need help, people! I need a bigger reach, I need more people telling more friends and more places about my books. I need a Street Team!
So, here’s how this is going to work: I have, right now, unlimited slots on my Street Team, but that won’t be the case forever. If you want to help, email me quickly and you’re in. I’ll be asking you to help me out in a very low key way. I’ll create a FB group for our team, and that’s where I’ll post messages about what needs to be promoted that day or week or month. Things like sample FB posts, sample Twitter posts, ideas I have that you might be able to help me implement. It’s easy, and quick.
What will you get out of this? Well, other than my undying love and gratitude, you’ll get first access (along with my newsletter subscribers) to info about my upcoming releases, you’ll get special gifts from me (for instance, giveaways of giftcards that are just for the Street Team members), you’ll get an inside view of this crazy profession, and you’ll get to hang out with me, and I can be pretty damn fun . . . no really, ask my dog.
If you’d like to be a part of my Street Team, leave me a comment on this page with your email address and I’ll send you an invite to the group!
Oh! Did I also mention that I might post some pictures like this for the group? 😉
