Blogger Love!

It’s Monday which means a chance to check out another one of my favorite book review bloggers. Today we’ve got the absolutely fabulous Kate of My Daily Romance. She’s smart and considerate, and you want to check out her reviews and make sure you ask her to read your books!

1. When and how did you decide to become a book blogger?

I started blogging early in 2013. I had been reviewing books on Goodreads for a while and was getting requests from Authors to review their ARCs, which was so fun! I decided to start a blog and it’s just grown from there!

2. How did you come up with your blog’s name?

Well, my plan was to highlight one romance book a day…so…My Daily Romance!

3. What makes your blog unique and/or different?

I put a lot of focus on new releases. There is a new release calendar on the blog that tracks upcoming new releases (people can even subscribe to it!) and every week I highlight the books that are being release that week and do a giveaway of one of them.

4. What is your “philosophy” regarding book reviews?

I will never lie in a review. I just can’t do it. At the same time, I am not going to post negative reviews. If I don’t like a book, I won’t review it…period. And if I love a book and give it 5 stars, you will KNOW that I love it. I am a total fangirl for the books and authors I love.

5. What are your favorite genres to read/review, and why?

I love angsty romance, especially ones with twists and turns. I hate when a book is predictable. When I get a good surprise I squeal in delight! A book that keeps me up until 3 in the morning because I neeeeeeeed to know what happens makes me unbelievably happy!

6. What are your biggest turn-offs in a book? How about that special thing that always wins you over?

Biggest turn-off: overuse of exclamation marks makes me insane. And lack of editing…if there are egregious spelling and grammar errors, I just cringe. What wins me over: Like I mentioned above, if I am surprised and intrigued I will be a happy girl!

7. Where do you see your blog a year from now?

Hmmm, it’s amazing to see how fast it’s grown! I am in awe of all the amazing fans that take time out of their days to read what I have to say. In a year, I don’t even know! I am shocked by how many people read it now, I can’t even predict what will happen in the next year. I just hope that I get to continue having fun and writing about books and authors I love.

8. What do you think the next “big” thing in fiction will be?

I think it’s kind of started, the move toward darker/suspenseful romance. Authors like Alethea Romig, C.J. Roberts and Madeline Sheehan are doing amazing things in that genre.

9. If money were no object, how would you spend your days?

I would travel the world forever. I love traveling and wish I could do it all the time!

10. How can readers and writers find you?

  1. I’m reading more and more romance recently, especially Regency romance, so Kate’s blog sounds like a fun one to check out.
