Publicity, Promotion, and Perseverance

I’m in the middle of writing the second in the Lush series, For the Love of a Lush. This volume is about Walsh, the band’s drummer and his longtime girlfriend, Tammy. If you’ve read A Lush Betrayal, you know about the crushing demise of Walsh and Tammy’s relationship, and For the Love of a Lush is their chance at a reunion. Tammy is an interesting character, and a challenge because she’s done something a lot of readers find pretty reprehensible. And in A Lush Betrayal she wasn’t very nice much of the time. Now in the second book, I’m in the position of having to redeem Tammy, make her likeable, and help her find her HEA.

If Tammy has one outstanding quality it’s her perseverance. The woman doesn’t give up often or easily, and that served her well in her job with the band. As the onsite manager, she dealt with all sorts of things from what to get the guys to eat, to managing the crew on tour, to dealing with publicists and the press. I’ve grown to have a lot of respect for Tammy, because let me tell you, publicity is not an easy job.

As most people know, when you’re an Indie writer and really these days, when you’re published in any platform, you’re tasked with the grueling, ongoing task of publicity. As time goes by, and you sell more books, and publish new ones, that task becomes even more intense. Multiple social media platforms, online events, giveaways, blog tours, and on and on. Even for those who are very savvy about where to expend their energy and when, it can be an daunting task. Add into that mix writing a new book every 2-3 months, coordinating the editing, cover design, formatting, retail loading, etc., and eventually even the best of us can collapse in a heap of sheer exhaustion.

After the release of Lush, my third book in five months, my fifth book in ten months, I was worn the heck out. The ever increasing demands on the publicity end were cutting into my time and mental energy for writing. Luckily, I know some really smart and successful writers, and one of them said, “The only thing you do that no one else can is write the books. Outsource, outsource, outsource.” Not rocket science, but still, nice to hear at a time when I really wasn’t able to do it all myself anymore.

So, I am beyond thrilled to announce that I have hired Selene Malik of The REAL Housewives of Romance book blog to be my publicist. Selene has been on my Street Team and is an enthusiastic supporter of me and my work, and she and her blog partner Heather Ogeron are building a fantastic community at their blog. I feel really lucky to be one of the first to get in with Selene, she’s got mad skills and tons of energy, and she’s already lightened my workload substantially.

If you want to be involved with one of Selene’s first projects for me, you can sign up for the cover reveal of For the Love of a Lush (Lush No. 2). There will be a giveaway involved and the chance to review Lush books if you’d like. Sign up Here.

If you want to reach Selene regarding any publicity or promotions that you’d like me to participate in, email her at: selene(dot)TRHOR(at)gmail(dot)com.

Lush No. 2 – For the Love of a Lush

I know, I know, the first Lush book, A Lush Betrayal just released ten days ago. So yes, it’s a little early to be thinking about Lush No. 2, but everyone is really excited and they’ve already read the first chapter excerpt in A Lush Betrayal, so  I decided to go ahead and put the blurb for Lush 2 online.

You can now add it on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20987518-for-the-love-of-a-lush

I’ve also moved the release date of For the Love of a Lush (Lush No. 2) up to April. It’s going to be the end of April, y’all, I’m not a miracle worker, but it should squeeze in there. For those of you who are waiting for the last installment of the Hiding From Love series, don’t despair! I’ve started Juan and Beth’s story, and I will have it out sometime in late May/early June. Hang in there!

For the Love of a Lush (Lush No. 2)

Six months ago, Walsh Clark was the drummer of America’s hottest rock sensation, Lush. Now he’s living at the Double A Ranch in north Texas, home to cows, cowboys, and lushes—like him. He’s survived alcoholism, rehab, and the breakup of his band. But the one thing Walsh might not survive is the return of his ex fiancée Tammy DiLorenzo.

Tammy and Walsh met at fourteen, and she was with him on every step to fame and fortune—until one fateful night when she betrayed him. Now she’s back, begging for forgiveness and ready to fight for her man. But some betrayals are too painful to forget, some mistakes can’t be repaired, and Walsh is certain that he and Tammy can’t ever be together again.

But DiLorenzo women don’t back down, and Tammy always gets what she wants. In the wake of the lies and losses, she’s prepared to do whatever it takes for a second chance. She’ll give it all—for the love of a lush.

It’s coming…A Lush Betrayal, the first book in my new rock star romance series, Lush. Book One will release the week of February 24th, and in the meantime, there are all sorts of ways to Lushified. But first, you need a Lush Primer.

Lush is the name of an Alt rock band based out of Portland. The band members are Joss Jamison-vocals, Mike Owens-Guitar, Walsh Clark-drums, and Colin Douglas-bass. Joss and Walsh have been best friends since elementary school. Mike grew up with them as well, and Colin arrived in the last two years of high school. The band started out playing together in Joss’s mom’s garage while they were in high school.

A Lush Betrayal takes place as the band is hitting the super big time. The guys are headlining their own world tour, and their hit single Your Air has just gone gold. Along for the tour are Tammy DiLorenzo, Walsh’s fiance and girlfriend since he was fourteen, and Tammy’s younger sister, Mel DiLorenzo, a recent graduate in Photojournalism who has been hired to document the band’s tour.

While all the guys have known Mel since she was a little girl, they haven’t seen her in the years she was away at college. When she walks back into the band’s life, well, let’s just say fireworks ensue.

The order of the books is as follows:

Lush No. 1 A Lush Betrayal – Joss and Mel

Lush No. 2 For The Love of A Lush – Walsh and Tammy

Lush No. 3 Lowdown and Lush – Mike and Jenny

Lush No. 4 A Lush Reunion – Colin and Darla

Check out the Lush website here, and the Lush Facebook page here. Then, on Monday February 10th you’ll get to see the cover for the very first Lush book, as well as find out all about the fantastic weeklong Lush release book club that I’ll be hosting. So check back here for all the details and the gorgeous cover reveal!
